B Sussed were initially instructed by Virtus Contracts to provide Ska support to help them fulfil their sustainability requirements for the 7,500 sq ft Cat A fit-out on the 4th floor of the CI Tower in New Malden. Following early stage meetings with the design team however, we were appointed to take over responsibility from the previous Ska Assessor to take the project through to formal certification.
We continued to provide comprehensive support to the contractor to ensure that they met the project's requirements, including assistance in producing documentation and checking compliant site procedures. We also worked with the project team to identify alternative compliant products where needed with a view to the project’s budget.
The project successfully achieved its target rating of Ska Gold at handover and B Sussed have since been appointed on a number of projects with the Contactor and wider team.

KSA Art Space, Kingston University
This project comprises the redevelopment of part of the third floor of the Penrhyn Road Main Building to provide thoughtfully designed, modern and function studio space for Kingston School of Art.

As part of the early works, B Sussed held a half day training session with Kingston University Estates Team to look at both the BREEAM and Ska sustainability assessment frameworks and their applicability to different schemes with respect to size and scope of works. B Sussed are working on a number of BREEAM and Ska assessments with Kingston University and this exercise was helpful to consolidate the approach for future projects.

As an outcome of the training, it was decided that Ska would be most suitable for this scheme. B Sussed are the appointed SKA Assessor for the project, which has a target of SKA Gold. Throughout the project we have worked closely with the design team to assess the specification and identify compliant products and solutions to deliver the sustainability objectives for the building.
When the project got on site we continued to work with the Contractor, ITC Concepts, and design team to review the impact of design changes and ensure the targets were maintained.
